Music is commanded in scripture and occupies a prominent place in our worship. The Ministry of Music at First Presbyterian Church, Bay City is dedicated to providing quality musical experiences for all members. Through psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, our voices and instruments are lifted in praise to God. By seeing, hearing, and supporting, our entire congregation contributes to the worship of God through music. The music reaches out to the church family and the Bay City community in a myriad of ways including song, instrument, voice, liturgical dance, photography, and even video.

Adult Choir

The adult choir serves as the primary musical resource, singing each Sunday during morning worship, and is open to everyone high school age through adult. Special services include programs during Easter and Christmas, as well as other times during the year. We strive to perform a broad spectrum of musical styles, from classical to contemporary. The adult choir rehearses each Wednesday from 7:30-8:30 pm in the sanctuary.

Bell Choir

We are looking for folks aged high school and older who would like to praise God with handbells. The bell choir plays occasionally in worship and at some community events. We start with basics but will introduce more advanced ringing techniques for some experienced ringers. The church is blessed with a five octave set of bells, and we are always looking for ringers to fill the handles. No experience is necessary! The Melody Bells rehearse each Wednesday from 6:45-7:30 pm.

Other Opportunities

Soloists and instrumentalists are often sought to offer their talents in worship, representing the congregation to the Lord. They are needed at various times during the year for ensembles, as a soloist, or to enhance and accompany the choir during special anthems. We believe that God gave us instruments as well as voices to sound His praise.
